  1. Program Overview

    The Pegasus Professor award recognizes excellence in the three primary areas of academic endeavor: teaching, research and service.

    1. Award recipients shall receive a one-time payment of $5,000 as well as a Pegasus statue.
    2. Each academic year, the University may award Pegasus Professor awards.
    3. The eligibility criteria for an in-unit employee applicant:
      1. Five years at the rank of tenured professor at UCF;
      2. have achieved excellence in teaching, research and/or creative activity;
      3. record of demonstrable service; and
      4. scope of national and international impact.
    4. The eligibility criteria for a non-unit applicant:
      1. Five years at the rank of tenured professor at UCF;
        1. faculty with administrative titles of chair, director, associate director, and assistant
          director are also eligible to apply;
      2. have achieved excellence in teaching, research and/or creative activity;
      3. record of demonstrable service; and
      4. scope of national and international impact.

    The awards are ultimately determined by the President or designee.

  2. 2019-20 In-Unit Pegasus Professor Award Guidelines

    The UCF In-Unit Pegasus Professor award recognizes excellence in the three primary areas of
    academic endeavor: teaching, research, and service.
    Eligibility Criteria
    Employees must have completed five years at the rank of tenured professor at UCF; achieved
    excellence in teaching, research and/or creative activity; and demonstrable service and scope of
    national and international impact.
    Award recipient(s) will receive:
    • A one-time payment of $5,000 as well as a Pegasus statue; and
    • The right to be called a UCF Pegasus Professor.
    Applications for the UCF In-Unit Pegasus Professor award will include:
    1. Letter of nomination from the applicant or from a UCF sponsor
    2. Current curriculum vitae (include best contact number)
    a. Winners will be contacted by phone
    3. Endorsement letter by the chair, director, or unit head (if applicable)
    a. Endorsement may include a 250-word statement of support
    4. Endorsement letter by the dean or vice president
    a. Endorsement may include a 250-word statement of support
    5. Letters of support (no more than three and 500-words each) from faculty members,
    staff members, alumni, or professional and community colleagues.
    Application packets shall be submitted, as one combined pdf document in the order listed
    above, to Faculty Excellence at facultyexcellence@ucf.edu by January 6, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
    UCF In-Unit Pegasus Professor awards are ultimately determined by the President or designee.

    Faculty (including chair, director, associate director, or assistant director) must have completed five years at the rank of tenured professor at UCF; achieved excellence in teaching, research and/or creative activity; and demonstrable service and scope of national and international impact. 

    Award recipient(s) will receive: 

    • A one-time payment of $5,000 as well as a Pegasus statue; and 
    • The right to be called a UCF Pegasus Professor.
