Big 12 Faculty of the Year

Overview

The Big 12 Faculty of the Year Award is designed to recognize outstanding faculty at Big 12 institutions who have excelled in areas of innovation, creative activity, and research on their campus. These faculty members should represent and reflect all the best attributes that make a college campus a bastion for learning and growth. A byproduct of the award allows the conference to highlight the incredible work, diversity of research breakthroughs, and educational opportunities afforded to students attending Big 12 institutions and help attract future students.

The Faculty of the Year Award will be given annually to one outstanding faculty member per institution. Throughout the academic year, the Big 12 Conference will highlight nominees with Faculty of the Month spotlights on social media channels.

Eligibility

• Nominee must be a full-time, tenured or tenure-earning faculty member at UCF for a minimum of two consecutive years prior to nomination.

Nominations

Self-nominations or nominations of other UCF faculty members are welcome. If you are nominating someone else, please ensure that the candidate is willing to accept the nomination prior to submission. Nomination materials may be submitted here and should include:

1. One-page narrative explaining how the nominee has:
   • Demonstrated excellence in areas of innovation, creative activity, or research at UCF.
   • Demonstrated and reflected all the best attributes that make a college campus a bastion for learning and professional growth – mentoring, education opportunities, contribution to UCF enriching the college experience for students.
   • Notable breakthrough(s) that demonstrate either some incredible work, a wide range of research accomplishments, or educational opportunities afforded to students attending Big 12 institutions that will help attract future students.
2. Current curriculum vita.
3. Letter of nomination from the nominee’s chair, director, or dean.
4. Recent professional headshot.

Faculty of the Year Selection

There is a two-tiered selection process. First, the UCF Faculty Athletic Representative will gather all applications/nominations after the due date and assemble a selection committee. This committee will select an institutional finalist. Second, the institutional finalist will be forwarded to the Big 12 Impact team by the UCF Faculty Athletic Representative. The Big 12 Faculty of the Year winners will be announced by the Big 12 Impact team during fall and spring of each academic year.
