Center for Success of Women Faculty
The Center for Success of Women Faculty joined Faculty Excellence in summer 2017 with programming, mentoring and resources to support women faculty at every stage of their career.
Committed to the success of women faculty in and outside the classroom, the center convenes groups and hosts events and programming on career-life balance, family-friendly practices and policies and helps women faculty maximize their research, instructional and professional capabilities.
Originally created in 2001 as the Women’s Research Center, the Center also encourages excellence in scholarship, research and creativity among UCF faculty and students in endeavors related to women.
Now a key initiative of Faculty Excellence, the Center can share its best practices and programming with a larger faculty audience.
Dr. Linda Walters joined UCF in 1997 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology. Now a Professor whose research focuses on marine conservation, Dr. Walters became the Interim Director of the Center for Success of Women Faculty in December 2011, and in 2013, she accepted the Director position.

UCF wants to recruit and retain the best faculty. To do this, we are working hard to put policies in place that enable all faculty to successfully balance their scholarship with their home lives throughout their careers at UCF.
Learn about resources available to you as faculty including things like paid leave, tenure/stop the clock policy, expectant mother parking services, Facebook support groups and more. We also host a number of events, like Faculty Family movie night and Faculty Family Fun-day, allowing you to share UCF with your friends and family.
We offer a number of awards available to women faculty that celebrate the breadth of their roles at UCF including mentoring and community engagement. These awards highlight their achievements and contributions to UCF.
Women’s History Month
At UCF, women have been instrumental in shaping our university from its origins into the amazing institution it is presently. We are honored and privileged to share the stories of 31 of these women with you, one for each day of the month of March.
